Meet our committee

Josh Bamford
President

I came from a land down under in order to do a DPhil in Cognitive and Evolutionary Anthropology here at St Peter's. My hobby is going to meetings: Chairing meetings of the MCR, representing the MCR at meetings with the college, and representing the college at meetings of the Student Union. I'm always happy to meet with you too, if ever you want to discuss how to make St Peter's College a better place for postgrads. When not at meetings, I study the social functions of music and dance in the human species.

Dessislava Veltcheva
Vice President

I am a second year PhD student studying Antibiotic Resistance on Campylobacter. I was born in Bulgaria but grew up in Japan and have been living in UK for my bachelors (York), masters (Manchester) and now my PhD. My role includes looking over student’s welfare and provide events that are alternative to events that involves alcohol. I was passionate to create a sustainability rep in the MCR and I am very happy that we have sustainability rep now! And many events such as OxUnboxed are happening every month so far as well. I look over sustainability, LGBTQ+, welfare, charity reps and help out yoga to be set out for sports rep as well. I love this role and I am super excited to also to get some alumni’s mentorship scheme to occur as well!

Dom McGann
Social Secretary

Largely fictional, like a unicorn or a truly free market. Studies MPhil Philosophical Theology when the whim takes him.

Adam Dawson
Secretary

I'm a 2nd year M.Phil student here at St. Peter's looking at the Archaeology of Piracy in the Graeco-Roman period. Since joining St. Peter's College I have made in my life's mission to create the most enthralling, fast-paced, bureaucratic minutes any Oxford college has even seen. My hobbies include mountaineering, scuba-diving and Leg break bowling.

Matthew Fawkes
Treasurer

My roles include keeping track of the MCR accounts, writing the annual financial report, overseeing reimbursements and general Master of Coin. Speak to me if the MCR owe you money or you have any ideas as to what to spend our budget on!

Niamh Fearon
LGBT Rep

My job as LGBT rep involves supporting LGBT members of the MCR and the wider St. Peter's community. We organise social events relating to LGBT awareness and welfare, as well as ensuring that St. Peter's is a welcoming space for all. Promoting equality and diversity is a key part of the MCR Committee's role.

Nat McGowan
LGBT Rep

It’s my job to help out with welfare (especially as it pertains to LGBTQ issues), to coordinate events and to distribute resources. If you’re having any LGBTQ related issues, or you’d just like to chat, or if you have any ideas - hit me up.

Floris Dierickx
Social Assistant

I’m a Belgian law student here in Oxford for a year. Right now, I am helping out Joe and Dom as social assistant together with my lovely colleague Isa. This means you’ll see me preparing Winesdays, exchanges and other fun activities. I also take care of our social media presence. I like to watch (and be overly critical of) movies, I listen (and play) a lot of music, occasionally do some sports. There’s always a good chance you'll catch me at a St Peter’s social event.

Isabella Cantoni Branco
Social Assistant

I’m a first year MPhil in Latin American Studies, studying memories of the Brazilian military dictatorship. As one of MCR’s assistant social secretaries (along with my lovely Floris), I help Joe and Dom with whatever they might need, and I’m here to help the wider MCR with whatever they might need as well!

Sarah Manthorpe
Sustainability Rep

As co-sustainability rep, I help make the MCR and St. Peter's College more green! This spans from food waste, energy use, to larger scale future projects. As a new role this year, we're learning where St. Peter's currently is in terms of environmental-friendliness and helping it be even better!
